Tamerlano Dubai Opera — A Monumental East-Meets-West Opera Comes to Dubai Opera: 10–11 January 2026 | Tickets from AED 200 🎭

Tamerlano Dubai Opera: **Last Chance** To Book (2026 Warning)

If you think you’ve already seen everything opera can offer, Tamerlano Dubai Opera will prove you wrong. This is not another polite revival of a Baroque classic. This is a bold, large-scale cultural statement—and for the first time ever in Dubai, one of Handel’s most powerful operas is reborn through a cross-cultural reimagining that unites Europe and Central Asia on one stage.

Presented by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, Tamerlano arrives at Dubai Opera in January 2026 as an official, certified, world-class production that blends history, innovation, and emotional force into one breathtaking theatrical experience.

This is opera with authority, ambition, and purpose. 🎶🔥

🌍 A Story Forged at the Crossroads of Civilizations

Inspired by the legendary historical figure Amir Temur (Tamerlane), Handel’s Tamerlano is a gripping drama of power, obsession, love, and destiny. Conquerors and kings collide. Pride battles compassion. Passion confronts political ambition.

But this production goes further.

Under the visionary direction of Stefano Poda, the opera becomes a dialogue between cultures, between past and present, between the West’s Baroque tradition and the musical soul of Central Asia. The result is deeply human, emotionally shocking, and visually unforgettable.

🎼 A Sound World You’ve Never Heard Before

This is where Tamerlano becomes truly jaw-dropping.

Handel’s original Baroque orchestration is reimagined by celebrated composer Kirill Richter, enriched with the colors, textures, and timbres of Uzbek traditional instruments. The sound does not replace Handel—it elevates him, expanding the emotional range and intensity of the score.

On stage, more than 160 artists perform together, including:

  • 🎻 The National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan
  • 🎶 The State Choir
  • 🪕 The Uzbegim Ensemble
  • 🎼 The Orchestra of National Instruments

Led by Honoured Artist of Uzbekistan Alibek Kabdurakhmanov, this musical force delivers a powerful, research-backed fusion that feels both ancient and strikingly modern.

🎨 Stefano Poda’s Singular Artistic Vision

Stefano Poda is not a director who stages opera—he sculpts it.

His holistic artistic approach merges direction, scenography, costumes, lighting, and choreography into one unified aesthetic language. Inspired by Timurid architecture and symbolism, the visual world of Tamerlano becomes a poetic landscape of power and vulnerability, history and abstraction.

This is not decorative opera.
This is opera as total art—essential, fearless, and immersive.

🌟 An International Cast of Operatic Excellence

  • Tamerlane — Jenisbek Piyazov (Bass-baritone), People’s Artist of Uzbekistan
  • Bayazet — Juan Sancho (Tenor)
  • Asteria — Verónica Cangemi (Soprano)
  • Bibi Khanum (Saray Mulk Khanum) — Yulduz Rajabova

Each brings proven mastery and emotional depth, delivering performances that resonate far beyond the final curtain.
